Mock Trial Update from Steve Reger, Team Sponsor

One of the oldest axioms in the Mock Trial world is this:  "If you want to beat an Indian Hill team, get an Indian Hill team to do it for you."

After having to face ourselves in an all Indian Hill semi-final last year at the state competition, we were "rewarded" by drawing ourselves in the very first round of District competition this year. When we weren't playing ourselves, we went 8-0. Unfortunately, someone had to lose the IH Black vs. IH Red match, so we ended the day 9-1.

That raises our season record to 20-4 and means that we are (once again) sending four of our five teams on to Regional competition in three weeks.

Yesterday's outstanding individual witnesses were: Emily Sheard (12); Sydney Poffenberger (9); Jasper Bennett (9); Amitesh Verma (9); and Brooke Youngblood (9). The outstanding attorney awards included: Gigi Lewis (10); Rama Sardar (10); Kanksha Buch (10); Ethan Marx (9); and Albert Kwon (11).  Sumner Colohan (11) earned two outstanding witness awards, and James Orr (12) earned two outstanding attorney awards.

That total means that IH won an incredible 14 of 18 possible awards, and it also means that we are the only Cincinnati area team to be sending four teams to Regionals!  In fact, no other local team is sending more than two, and we are sending four! Barring having to play ourselves again, we hope to have more good news to come in another couple of weeks.

Happy Homecoming!
