Barb Presnell, middle school intervention specialist, was recently named the Indian Hill Exempted Village School District's representative for this year's "Educator of the Year" recognition for the Hamilton County Education Foundation.

The award honors those in the public school education field who exemplify the best in their profession. She and other area honorees were recognized at the "Celebrate Excellence" breakfast and ceremony, hosted by Jim Mahoney, Ph.D., executive director emeritus,
Battelle for Kids, and executive in residence, Ohio University

Jennifer Ulland, Indian Hill Middle School principal, submitted the following in regards to Presnell and her impact in the district:

Mrs. Presnell is the Intervention Specialist for the 8th grade team. She not only serves the students on her caseload but also takes ownership of all members of the entire 8th grade class. She has built a trusting rapport with the students. She is able to provide interventions and helpful techniques to the team when she sees a student is struggling. When working with students, Mrs. Presnell is able to help students recognize their strengths and use these as guides to personal growth and learning.

Mrs. Presnell runs our MTSS program for the 8th grade team. Her collaboration with team members is outstanding. Together they plan weekly outlines for individual students' interventions and needs. She has connected with families regarding the transition process to high school. As part of the transition process, Mrs. Presnell has orchestrated several opportunities for students to experience high school through coordination with the freshman intervention specialist and other 9th grade teachers.

Mrs. Presnell serves as a trainer and resource to her peers for the reading program LLI.  She has provided several peer coaching opportunities in which fellow teachers are able to observe and be observed to learn best practices with the program.

Indian Hill Middle School is a great place for children because of teachers like Mrs. Barbara Presnell.
