IHES Buddy Bench

It is painted Indian Hill red, and it is decorated with Brave signatures by each member of the Class of 2025. This fall, the Indian Hill Middle School sixth-grade class gave a unique gift to Indian Hill Elementary School (IHES) students … a bench designed to bring Braves together.

“This is a great addition to our building,” said IHES Principal Whitney Buell about the Buddy Bench – a tool used by students to communicate when they are in need of a playmate. Students take a seat on this special bench as a sign to fellow classmates.

“Oftentimes students who don’t have a friend to play with don’t know where to go,” explained Buell. “We want all students to include everyone.”

Indian Hill Elementary School students are familiar with the process; Indian Hill Primary School was already equipped with a Buddy Bench. The item was on Buell’s wish list, and the Class of 2025 came through.

“This is what it means to be a Brave,” said Buell. “We support each other; we care for each other. It is part of who we are as a community.”
