One of my favorite traditions at Indian Hill Schools is having the opportunity to say a very intentional thank you to members of our Brave Family who are making a difference for others.
This month, that thank you goes to Indian Hill High School Principal Andy Gruber. What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that multiple members of his team took the time to nominate him.

Their reason? Leadership.

This school year, Indian Hill High School launched a new schedule that includes an extended lunch period during MP or multipurpose time, creating a shared experience for all our high school students across multiple locations on campus. While students may simply experience it as part of their school day, there was an incredible amount of planning required to make it happen.

The expanded time gives our students more than an opportunity to eat lunch. It creates space to connect with friends, build relationships, meet individually with teachers, receive additional learning support, and make choices about how they use their time.

And according to Andy’s colleagues, he worked “tirelessly” to get all those details in order.

That word stood out to me.

Leadership often happens in the details no one else sees. The meetings, adjustments, problem-solving, conversations, and countless decisions required to turn an idea into an experience that benefits students. But Andy’s team recognized something else that is equally important: He leads through that work with positivity and joy.

That matters.

Our district goal this year is to ensure every student is known, challenged, and supported to demonstrate meaningful academic growth. Creating time and space for students to connect with their teachers, seek additional help, and strengthen relationships directly supports that commitment.

Andy, thank you for your tireless work on behalf of our students and staff. Thank you for tackling complicated work with optimism. And, most importantly, thank you for bringing joy to your leadership.

It was my privilege to share a Thank You Lunch with you — and to celebrate the impact your leadership continues to have at Indian Hill High School.
