What began in September as a community
meeting has developed into an active and informed Facilities Assessment
Task Force representing community residents, parents, and business
leaders who are experts in their field within the Indian Hill School
District. Wednesday, November 14, after dividing into four teams to
conduct tours at buildings throughout the District during October, the
Indian Hill Facilities Assessment Task Force gathered once again as one
group at Indian Hill High School to share findings.
“From infrastructure issues, to safety and security upgrades, to accessibility – our task force members have helped us to even better understand the needs that must be addressed – especially within Indian Hill Middle School,” said Indian Hill Superintendent Dr. Mark Miles. “We thank these volunteers for partnering with us, and for their dedication to this important process.”
“We are investing time now to make sound investments for our future,” said Indian Hill School District Treasurer Mick Davis. “The total repairs and capital needs that have been identified throughout the District far exceeds the District’s budget. Additionally, the District is having to divert funds away from the operating budget in order to make needed repairs to our aging facilities each year. We are grateful for the work of this important team to help inform and prioritize how the District should proceed, and we thank each member for the gift of their time throughout this process.”
The Facilities Assessment Task Force
will deliver the findings to the Indian Hill Board of Education in the
near future. The District plans to develop a Steering Committee and a
Finance Committee to advance the work of the Facilities Assessment Task
Force. The District will also continue with community engagement and
through building/department focus groups.
“Open, transparent, and inclusive – that is how the District is conducting this process,” said Dr. Miles. “We want every voice to be heard; we want every Brave to feel involved.”
