DECA group of students
This past January, Indian Hill High School DECA students competed in DECA Districts. A large number of students who participated in role play scenarios, 5 or 11 page papers and presentations advanced on to the state level. Also, joining this diverse group of students were those who spent their time in January researching and writing 30 page manuals and creating 15 minute presentations.

DECA state takes place in Columbus, Ohio at the Columbus Convention Center. All of the students who present at DECA state stay in the connected hotel, the Hyatt Regency. Presentations for 5 and 11 page papers begin Friday, after students arrive that afternoon. Those who are not presenting at this time have free time to roam the hotel/convention center. Students also have the opportunity to explore the close area near the convention center. North Market is a favorite that many of the students like to visit during their free time to grab a quick bite to eat.

Friday night, students learn whether or not they qualify to move on to the next round. Saturday morning, another set of presentations are conducted where those who make it to the second round present in front of a new set of judges. During the free time after students present on Saturday, there is almost always a Dance Competition taking place at the convention center along with a car show; many students like to venture to these events between their presentation times and the closing ceremony.

Finally, on Saturday night, students all gather at the closing ceremony, where they find out whether or not they have qualified for ICDC, the DECA international competition. This year, we had a total of 15 students in a variety of different events qualify for the ICDC trip to Anaheim, California, in April.

Students that qualified for this incredible opportunity and trip include: Ben Singer and partner Patrick Giroux, Andrew (AJ) King, Rachel Gaede and partner Jimmy Burnette, Hannah Grote, Jackson Forbes and partner Patrick Swain, Sarah Price and partner Stephanie Tranter, Cameron Metz, Mary Hall, Jeongwon Ryu and partner Milan Bhandari. We wish them all the best of luck at ICDC next month in California!
