The Indian Hill Middle School Theater Department opened its 2017-18 theater season with two popular historical plays, The Secret Garden adapted by Tim Kelly and Robin Hood by Tim Kelly. Performances were Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11.

Director Kendra Thomas said, “I always try to have a common thread for the two one-acts and originally the only similarity I found between the two shows was that they both had outdoor elements. The Secret Garden, a garden, and Robin Hood, Sherwood Forest. As we delved into these scripts, I found a common theme that I felt was so important to this generation to hear. The outdoors can be an escape, an adventure, every time you step out the front door. In a time where video games and cell phones have become a sanctuary, these shows tell a story about young people finding solace and purpose by going to their garden to grow things or by finding a home in the forest to help those who are less fortunate. It wasn’t until I watched these amazing kids get up on stage and put this all together that the true message was said loud and clear.”

This spring, the IHMS Theater Department will be presenting Seussical Jr. on March 16 and 17, 2018.
