STATE CHAMPIONS: Indian Hill Relay Teams Sweep Indoor Track State
The Indian Hill School District celebrates the Indian Hill High School indoor track and field program after a historic weekend as both the boys and girls 4x800-meter relay teams captured State Championships at the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) Indoor State Track and Field Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

“To see both our boys and girls 4x800 relay teams rise to the top of the state in the same weekend speaks volumes about their work ethic, the leadership of our coaches, and the culture of excellence within our track and field program,” said Indian Hill High School Principal Andy Gruber. “Achievements like this reflect the commitment our students bring to representing Indian Hill with pride.”

Student-athletes James McGrath, Tyler Martin, James Driscoll, and Zixiang (Harry) Hong won the state title on Friday, March 6, posting a championship time of 7:59.18. The performance highlighted exceptional teamwork, endurance, and determination as the Braves surged past top competition from across Ohio.

“It is incredibly exciting to see these young men participate at such a high level, and we expect this to springboard them into an outstanding spring outdoor track and field season,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps.

On Saturday, the relay team of Ella Grant, Sabrina Mangialardo, Josephine Tindale, and Claire Wilkes delivered another standout performance for Indian Hill, winning the 4x800-meter relay State Championship with a time of 10:18.

“This is an incredible accomplishment for Ella, Sabrina, Josephine, and Claire,” said Phelps. “We are extremely proud of their effort, preparation, and the way they competed together as a team. Winning a state championship is special, and it is exciting to see these young competitors bring another State Championship back to The Hill.”
Together, the two relay victories capped a remarkable weekend for the Braves program and demonstrated the strength of Indian Hill’s indoor track and field teams heading into the spring season.

“These student-athletes and their coaches are the best of the best and we are glowing with pride in how they represented Indian Hill with such determination and sportsmanship,” said Indian Hill Interim Superintendent Dr. Melissa Stewart. “Winning two state championships in the same event is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to the commitment, teamwork, and excellence that define our Braves.”
